ELOs should provide variety, generalize skills, build behavioral momentum, and be used during transitions or downtime to keep the child engaged through constant reinforcement at least every 3 seconds. Only social reinforcers should be used for ELOs, with physical prompting for incorrect responses followed by reinforcement.
Functions
